OUTPLACEMENT

Posted by Admin | October 19th, 2012

THE CDR GROUP OF COMPANIES
Corporate Outplacement.
Outplacement is an important element in the orderly termination of
employees who have been displaced for a variety of reasons, including a
perceived lack of fit between job demands and individual capabilities,
reorganization of management, economic considerations, or the
elimination of jobs due to corporate restructuring.
The employer organization will retain a professional or professional group
to assist the individual or group of individuals to achieve a smooth and
positive career transition.
Firms who claim to offer outplacement services to corporations have
proliferated in recent years. However, the type and quality of services
they provide vary considerably.
It should be understood that CDR Outplacement services extend far
beyond traditional counseling, testing, coaching and secretarial support.
Our staff will do all of the critical preparation work to get a job search
campaign off the ground.
This includes: the development of a customized marketing plan,
professional copywriting of all necessary resumes and letters,
computerized research on employers, the handling of all the typing and
laser printing requirements, and much more. Our creative materials,
research and marketing support will save months of work when compared
to traditional job search procedures.
As soon as an assignment is accepted, we will delegate a consulting team
and schedule all the work to be prepared. This should be accomplished at
the earliest possible date, so that the client may move into the
marketplace with minimal delay.
To assist in your evaluation and selection of the proper outplacement
service for your firm and its employees, the following is an outline of our
unique service.
Background Information
In 1978, the founders of the CDR Group investigated the available
support for job seekers. They found that:
 An active research-based support system for job seekers did not exist.
 Most of the best employment opportunities were not advertised.
 Employment markets were more competitive than ever.
The investigating team asked, “ What if job seekers’ abilities were
marketed in the same way that million-dollar corporations marketed
their products?”
Their answer was the incorporation of the CDR Group of Companies.
Today’s Job Market
Finding employment in the current market depends on a proactive,
strategically planned, research-based approach.
Why?
 The economics of change continue with great acceleration. We can adapt
to the change or stand helplessly on the sidelines.
 The employment condition is continually changing as people are working
to a greater age, developing record levels of competition.
 Every month nation wide approximately 2,000,000 new jobs come into
existence for professionals and executives. The equivalent number of
persons distributing resumes is about 30,000,000 in that same month.
 Without a competitive advantage job seekers will not be able to sustain
maximal levels of employment nor have the ability to keep their
compensation growing.
The truth is:
 You can no longer assume that an employer will reward your loyalty
and hard work with lifetime job security. There is no more tenure.
 You must understand that keeping or changing a job is by design not
by chance.
 You have to consider yourself as a ”product” with a certain value. A
company “rents” your knowledge and experience for as long as you
are valuable, then it shops for a new “product”.
 You must remain competitive whether you are under-challenged,
under-employed, or looking for new employment.
 You must maintain an upward career path by continually promoting
your skill set.
At CDR, we help discard old assumptions, while incorporating
and using new strategies and techniques. We help develop a job
search that provides for maximum employment.

Examples of Client Successes Using Our Services
 A displaced oil industry executive, looking for one year on his own,
found a challenging assignment in the Middle East within two
months using CDR.
 A career military officer obtained a marketing position with a
growing transportation company in less than three months.
 A public relations professional immigrated and encountered an
extremely tight market in her field. She secured employment as a
program coordinator within eight weeks.
 An executive relocated only to find his intended business
investment had soured. Within ten weeks he generated four
potential offers in different industries.
 A lawyer created a position for herself as a Customer Training and
Project manager in a high tech company.
 A systems engineer who immigrated received three offers within
two weeks of campaigning.
 A 54-year-old Manager, phased out by a company merger,
obtained a position with an international consulting company. His
compensation and benefits increased by 15%.
Phase 1: Information Gathering
You are not alone. Senior executives, accomplished managers and
experienced professionals find it hard to initiate a job search. The first
step to any job campaign is to identify every marketable asset you
possess.
Our Career Analysis Profile Questionnaire provides information that
gives us insight into your knowledge, experiences, and interests.
You may complete this unique questionnaire electronically or manually
at your own pace in your own home.
By fully answering the questions, you will begin to learn a great deal
about yourself and your potential.
Phase 2: Developing Your Customized Marketing Strategy
1. We identify your career and industry options.
If you are at a career transition point you need to consider all of your
options including advanced positions in your field, possible moves into
new careers, frontier industries, entrepreneurial situations, and growth
opportunities.
This phase of our work both broadens and enlightens that view you
may have of your career path.
Our service is particularly effective if you are:
 moving from government, education and the military to business,
 leaving a traditional industry, to move into light manufacturing,
distribution, financial services or hundreds of newer and faster growing
areas, or
 experiencing difficulty in setting career direction and industry focus.
Our consultants advise you on how to make these transitions more
easily and more realistically. They are prepared to offer you specific
recommendations each step of the way.
2. We assess your marketability and income potential
If you are unsure of your marketability and income potential, you may
underestimate your value and not consider positions with more exciting
financial rewards. The result can often block longer-term career
growth.
We do a careful assessment of your marketability and income potential
to make sure you make the most with what you have to offer.
We also analyze your liabilities, such as unemployment, frequent job
changes, location, age, education, slow career progression, single
industry/company experience, and too much generalist or specialist
knowledge and experience.
We have pioneered unique methods to compensate for all liabilities
and we show you how to turn them into assets
3. We recommend specific job search goals
We consider all possible employment alternatives while completing
your marketability assessment and zero in on the areas most
appropriate for maximum career advancement.
4. We develop your campaign action plan for generating
interviews
We review your personal goals, marketability and opportunity areas
and lay out a step-by-step Campaign Action Plan identifying 7 to 10
different channels for producing interviews.
5. We will develop a complete interviewing strategy
Interviewing is the heart and soul of a job search and everything you
do to get an interview is wasted if you do not convert it to a job offer.
Do you have many hours a day to prepare? Do you have a research
company to provide information? Without these resources you run the
risk of talking to the wrong person and saying the wrong things.
Development of superior interviewing skill requires knowledge and
practice. Once you secure an interview, your eventual success is 20%
credentials and 80% personal presentation skills.
Our interview preparation work is similar to that of a political campaign
manager. We lay out your plan, we provide you with a strategy, and
help you master the whole personal selling process.
6. We prepare your negotiation strategy
Millions of dollars of income are left on negotiating tables because
people do not know how to negotiate on their own behalf. Today’s
employment packages are complex, so we equip you with a personal
negotiation strategy. It includes our techniques for negotiating income
based on your worth rather than past earnings, what should be
negotiated, and how to secure the highest possible compensation
package.
We advise you against accepting the first offer or “ultimatum” that
comes along and encourage you to rely on our research-based
approach to consider two or three possibilities. The results can be
astonishing, and winning just a few more thousand dollars now can
easily add up to $100,000, $200,000 or more during the course of your
career.
Our goal is to provide you with a commanding competitive edge. Many
of our ideas and concepts are proprietary and will not be mastered via
any other source.
Phase 3: Preparation of Key Written Materials
In today’s competitive job markets, ordinary resumes are of limited
value because:
• millions of resumes are in circulation but only 10% are read,
• historical resumes are easily separated by resume scanning software, and
• decision-makers do not receive and read resumes.
Our principles for creating resumes
Your CDR developed resume communicates a total feeling—certain skills, talents
and personal qualities. Your resume
• clearly presents your knowledge, experience and interests.
• emphasizes distinctive assets while minimizing liabilities.
• works within the Marketing Plan we have designed.
• is prepared in draft form by our top-level writers,
• draws on our wide knowledge of the different styles and formats.
• awaits your final acceptance and approval.
Depending upon the Marketing Plan we have designed, you may require various
types of job search letters.
• Letters for making initial contacts.
• Letters for surfacing new leads.
• Letters for follow up on interviews.
• Letters for reaching influential people.
Phase 4: Market Research
 We provide information and advice on employers to consider by industry, size
and location.
Based on your knowledge, experience and interests we isolate high
probability target employers you choose to contact.
 We provide information and advice on emerging opportunities and growth
companies.
Continual “events” occur in thousands of firms, which cause
management to need new talent. Job openings are the result. Our
researchers scan such events that are likely to indicate near-term
hiring activity
 We identify key recruiters to contact.
We forward your credentials to active recruiters who are seeking
prospective employees for the their client employers.
 We identify growth companies and emerging opportunities.
Our research and consulting staff have compiled a unique file of
current events that you can use to identify new companies, new
products, acquisitions, mergers, divestitures and growth organizations.
This is the most effective, and in some cases, the only way for you to
penetrate the unadvertised job market.
Phase 5: Ongoing Professional Counsel
 You can depend on our consultants to assist you on any matters relevant to
your job search effort. This may include a review of interviewing strategies,
help in selecting job offers, and advice on all matters of job search
importance.
CDR is committed to providing staff and resource support until new
employment is secured, and to monitor this employment guarding
against any interruption for the balance of a career.

professional service elements. This includes the marketing plan, and all
resumes and letters CDR have created.
The foregoing sets out all that CDR guarantees, and CDR makes no other
representations, warranties or guarantees of whatsoever, nature or kind.
